Hello, my name is Saamin and I am a Dietitian from Adelaide Nutrition. We are a team of 4 dietitians and are looking to expand our services to work with NDIS participants. Hence, I am submitting this form for if you have any participants looking to seek a dietetic service within their NDIS plan.

Though it is usually not explicitly written in their NDIS plan that they require a dietetic service – there are many ways in which we can help achieve their short term and long-term goals.

Examples being:
If they want to be more independent with their day-to-day activities – we can help them be more independent with cooking/groceries/menu planning.
If they want to improve their health – we can find ways to alter and improve their diet and increase physical activity so they can meet that goal.
If they want to lose/gain weight or gain muscle – our service can help them.
And OVERALL, if they want to succeed in their other therapies such as OT, speech therapy, and Positive Behavior Support – dietetics is often something that can aid and accelerate progress. How? If we think of it simply, when a child or adult is hungry or not properly nourished – they tend to feel weak, tired, agitated, moody and the list goes on. When someone is satiated and satisfied with the food in their belly, your mood is often better and you are able to engage in more activities as your energy levels improve. Hence, all other therapies would benefit from this as their participants would be less agitated/moody and more willing to participate in the activities being given to them.
The main thing with dietetics is that we tend to work a lot with the stakeholders rather than the participant themselves. As many times it is the support workers and/or family that is involved in their food processes. Hence this way the participant is not getting any additional therapy – rather the whole family is benefiting from improved therapy services.

Please let me know if you have any questions and if there is anything else you need from me to allow our company to work with you.
