Why is Sensory Lighting needed?
Many people have an inability to regulate certain sensory stimuli and this is called “sensory processing
disorder.” In many cases, it can cause a variety of negative behaviours, such as acting out, fighting,
meltdowns as well as problems with information processing and development.
People with these issues have been found to benefit from “safe” spaces that are designed to provide a place for
individuals with sensory issues to calm down by being able to control the sensory input of their environment.

So how does Sensory Lighting Help?
Children’s moods are strongly affected by lighting: for some it provides calming, soothing effects and
for others it acts as a method of mental stimulation. Harsh lighting can often cause distress to a
person with autism. Flickering, humming lights can also be sources of distraction and distress. It’s
often advised to use adjustable lighting in order to create a calming effect. Certain light levels and
colours can be beneficial and the ability to control visual stimuli within the space is important.
Having a designated Sensory Area can have calming Effects while also helping develop the following:
Stimulation.
Socialization.
Improved Focus.
Motor Skills Development.
Cognitive Development.
Sensory Development

So why choose us to Help?
Custom Entertainment Solutions has been servicing the needs of the Event Lighting industry since
2018 and has thus acquired an extensive expertise in all things lighting. Having based ourselves on
the features demanded by industry juggernauts, we have created innovative, user-friendly procedures
that accommodate for all levels of lighting use.
At the beginning of 2020 Custom Entertainment Solutions was a company that solely focused on
catering to all facets of the entertainment industry, our team has several years of experience in this
role. While still fulfilling all the needs of our main industry we have pivoted and engaged a new
industry where we found a revitalised passion!
We have a passion for all things LED and lighting, through this we engaged in sensory lighting for
special needs people. Our background in major events and electronic engineering has given us the
tools that make us uniquely qualified to make lighting fun and our only limitation is the imagination of
our clients. Our entire job has been based on making magic real and we want to pass that on to be
people who could use it most!

How we work
Our first priority is to assist any client or potential client. Nothing is more important! And that is
the reason that our interview part of the process is so important, we take the time to chat with the
client about who they are, what challenges they have and what they believe will help them.

The Interview

Our first priority is to assist any client or potential client. Nothing is more important! And that is
the reason that our interview part of the process is so important, we take the time to chat with the
client about who they are, what challenges they have and what they believe will help them.

The Tour

After the interview we ask the client and/or carer where needed to take us for a tour of the
residence, we use the tour to ask
more questions about what the client would benefit from, we assess which rooms will get
sensory attention and what sort of
attention we get. We also discuss what alterations are allowed based on rentals etc and assess
as to a plug and play system is most suitable or if we need to bring in our licenced electrician to
help hard wire in plugs and switches as required.
