My Counselling and Me – Counselling Service

Kim is an experienced NDIS registered counsellor, holding a Graduate Diploma in Counselling and membership with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA). Having a Masters in Palliative Care and an Honours Degree in Health Care Management and qualified as a Registered Nurse; Kim has extensive experience in caring for people with life-limiting illnesses and conditions. Kim also has extensive experience in providing community advice and support in palliative care, advance care planning, advance health directives, including supporting LGBTIQ clients. Identifying as part of the LGBTIQ community, Kim provides an empathetic perspective because of his lived experience.

As an integrative and person-centred counsellor, Kim believes that every person is unique and adapts his approach to suit their individual needs and circumstances, recognising the value and healing power of providing a non-judgemental, empathic, and accepting therapeutic relationship that many individuals may not have experienced previously. Working within an integrative approach, Kim draws upon several different modalities, approaches, and techniques, depending on what each person needs. The core of Kim’s training and practice is person-centred. This means that he views each person as the expert of their own narrative, and believes they contain an inner ability to change and grow. Kim works collaboratively, empowering and motivating you to make the changes you wish to make in your life. Kim provides a safe, empathic, and non-judgemental space in which you feel heard and accepted and therefore able to stay with and explore things, at a deeper level than you may have felt able to previously.
